This project was created as a personal exploration into lowkey street photography. Each portrait was shot using a Nikon D7100 and later edited using Adobe Photoshop.
The primary goal of this project was to capture futuristic, cinematic portraits with a hint of big-city nightlife.
A significant challenge I encountered when taking these portraits was ensuring that the backgrounds didn't contain any clashing or unsuitable colours or themes. This can be difficult, especially when your subject is in a busy and uncontrollable downtown metropolis. I overcame this challenge by first: making sure that the model was wearing a neutral-coloured outfit, and second: situating the model in a location that still delivered the project's intended feel, but also minimised uncomplimentary background elements. Additionally, colour manipulation was utilised in post-production to remove or modify any additional unwanted spill or background details.
